Reflecting on Maine's Stay at Home Orders

12 weeks ago I was sitting in one of the government buildings in Augusta, Maine, working on an education advisory board (of which I am a member through my other job as a teacher). Shortly after lunch, they abruptly dismissed us with the underlying message that our world was about to change. Suddenly, our second grader was home 24/7 trying to complete the rest of her school year with our support. With two adults and an eight year old working/learning together in one place, it was exhausting for all of us! Digby, however, relished having his people home every day to cater to his every need. The days spun together and we lost track of what day of the week it was. It was mentally and emotionally draining.

And here we are months later. I have been waking up lately shell shocked by how fast the last trimester of the school year flew by. We somehow survived and our second grader is officially a third grader. The lightened load of no more school work combined with the nice weather is helping us begin to get back to a bit of a more normal routine. I am coming to the surface gasping for air and a chance to breath normally. I will admit that juggling everything over the past three months has been more challenging than I would like. And it resulted in a bit more quiet around “here” than I had expected.

Lets make the second half of 2020 stronger and better than the first half! I am looking forward to all of the weddings that have been shifted to later this summer and fall. And 2021 is already shaping up to be filled with lots of fun events. If you are wondering if I am available for a certain date or what my policies are surrounding portrait sessions, you can check out this page on my website. I would love to connect and make plans together!

Be well and enjoy the sunshine.
