Jen & Alex's Intimate Wedding at Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Maine
Perhaps this post is coming to you months later because it simply took me that long to recover from it! Way back in July, I wore the most “hats” during a wedding that I think I will ever wear. Why? Because my “baby” sister got married! So I became the matron of honor, flower girl wrangler, and assistant to my rock star husband, Alan, who took over a lot of the lead photography for the day. All of Jen & Alex’s loved ones gathered for their wedding weekend and stayed at Snowvillage Inn in Eaton Center, New Hampshire together for a glorious mid-summer soiree. After spending the day prior lounging, play lawn games, and catching up, the Inn served as our base for preparations during the morning of the wedding. We were all beautifully coiffed by Jen’s longtime stylist, Meghan (who has since moved to Virginia. Boo!), before we donned our formal wear. Jen’s ladies wore their choice of navy blue dress and she wore an incredible dress from Andrea's Bridal that we looked long and hard for.
With our preparations complete, we went off to Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Maine (where I have been dying to photograph a wedding) for their ceremony and reception. There were many tears (our dad turned to mush walking her down the aisle and I was a wreck as well), so much laughter (mawriage), and lots of smiles from us all. Once the formalities were completed and Jen & Alex were officially married, we captured their family and formal portraits nearby SMAC. One of the funnier moments was when Jen actually took a photo for me so that we could have a family photo from the day. It certainly resulted in a lot of laughter! We then went inside SMAC and enjoyed a delicious dinner, which was one of the biggest requirements on their list when searching for a venue. The food had to be amazing and it certainly was at SMAC. Our sugar needs were fulfilled by amazing cakes and baked goodies from Autumn Nomad Cakes & Cafe. With our tummies filled, we all danced and mingled long into the night and celebrated the long awaited union of Jen & Alex.
Jen & Alex, thank you for having us be a part of your day in so many special ways. I dare say I will never look so fancy while photographing a wedding ever again. To Alan, my husband and second shooter extraordinaire, thank you for being the lead photographer during so much of the day so I fulfill my Matron of Honor duties. And thank you to my cousin, Liz, who added her photos to the mix so I could be visually “present” in the story of their day.
