The "M" Family Portraits in Wakefield, Massachusetts
You want to know what I absolutely love about photographing weddings? It’s getting together with the couples after their wedding for portraits. Seeing them after the emotional roller coaster of their wedding say and reconnecting is seriously amazing. And seeing Emily & Dale again after their wedding at the Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, Maine, was even more special because it meant I got to meet their newborn daughter and see all of Emily’s side of their amazing family again.
I met up with all of them, including the youngest three, at Veteran’s Field in Wakefield, Massachusetts, along the lake. The sun was high above us and the warmth of the day was just starting to settle in around us. My what a change from then to now! We captured the more formal portraits and then the fun moments that I love capturing the most took over. The goofiness that comes out of a grandfather while playing with his grandson. The swooning over the newest member of the family as she made all of her baby noises. The crawling after the newly mobile little love as she aimed to take off across the park. Those are the moments that tell the real story of their family.
To be honest, I didn’t want our time together to end. I could have stayed and played with them for the rest of the day. The bonus was that I knew I would be seeing Emily & Dale again in a few weeks for portraits with Dale’s side of the family. Yes, family portraits are an awesome gift for the parents that have everything they need. Well done, Emily & Dale.
