One of the greatest joys I have after almost thirteen years of photographing weddings is when I get to see my couples again for updated portraits. Fortunately for me, Emily & Dale reconnect every year or two to do just that with each side of their family. And, every time they do, I count down the days as soon as we set a date. Getting together with them is like a family reunion.
Read MoreMichelle & Jory have been in front of my camera seven times since 2014 and I swear it gets better. Every. Single. Time. This week, I am anxiously waiting for the news of their second child arriving in the world. As the excitement builds, looking back at their sunset engagement session in Biddeford Pool a few weeks ago might be the ticket to staying calm. I met up with the family during sunset for a family exploration turned maternity portraits, which is just how I like my sessions to go with families. We get together. We explore. We laugh. A lot.
Read MoreThis is crazy to believe, but I first photographed Rob & Trish seven years ago when they were both babyfaced newly engaged folks. In fact, it might have been before that when they attended a family member’s wedding. Either way, it’s been a long time! Since then, they have gotten hitched, and had their two adorable little girls who I have had the honor of capturing as they grow up. I look forward to seeing them every single year when we get together for their annual portraits.
Read MoreThere is just something about a fall day spent in an apple orchard. Especially if you get to spend it with two love birds getting ready for their 2021 wedding. And if you have the most perfect weather for it. Fortunately for me, I had just such a morning this fall when I got to visit Randall Orchard in Standish, Maine, with Tyler & Kari for their engagement session.
Read MoreWhen a family is as “on the go” all the time as my dear friend Heather and her gang, you find time anyway you can to make an annual portrait session happen. And this year that meant the last moments before the sun set without running around to other locations. Additionally, when it’s 2020, you go for comfort because that’s what we all need at this point. I loved it! No scratchy outfits, no one too cold… it was just awesome.
Read MoreA few weeks ago we hit peak foliage and perfect temps for glorious fall portraits. Whitney & Ben, who are getting hitched next summer, opted to take advantage of it. And I am so glad they did! We met up at the Sebago Lake Land Reserve, which is owned by the Portland Water District, to explore Otter Ponds together. If you haven’t visited. the Reserve, I highly recommend it! It’s one of my favorite local areas here in Standish, Maine, and features miles of trails to explore.
Read MoreSometimes you don’t need a ton of time to have a very awesome session that results in timeless photos of your family. And that’s what happens every year when I get together with one of my best friends, Jess, and her family for their annual portrait session. This year we made it happen just before sunset in only 30 minutes in Cape Elizabeth. It was fast, but so very awesome!
Read MoreFor those of you who have been following me for a few years (or, perhaps, from the beginning) then you just might recognize the “P” family in this post from WAY BACK at the beginning when they first appeared in front of my camera when they were pregnant with their first child. Yes, it really has been that long!
Read MoreNow that the holiday cards have been delivered and the dust has settled, I can finally share a few of the family portrait sessions that I captured for some long time clients and friends late last fall. First up is the “G” family, who I first photographed back in 2012 when they daughter was 5 days old. We met up at Hawkes Preserve in Gorham for a mini session in between all of their sport commitments. This is one wicked athletic family!
Read MoreWhen your connection with a family goes back over a decade, their annual family portrait sessions turn into a family reunion. And they start much like they normally do. “Holy smokes the kids are so big!” “Are you walking yet?” “Do you love being a big sister?” I mean, really…
Read MoreHere I am posting the “P” family’s annual session from 2018 just as we’re starting to plan their 2019 session. For this family, they have legitimately been on this ride with me since the very beginning when I first photographed mom and dad as they were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their daughter. And every single time I photograph them, I have a new favorite session.
Read MoreNothing says “love” like time spent with family, right? Surround grandparents with all of their kids and grandkids and you can practically see it radiating around them. Spending the day with the “P” family last fall was the perfect example of that. In fact, they expanded their circle a bit more that day and invited my own family to join in the fun and Alan and Bri came along.
Read MoreYou might not be thrilled that I’m showing you photos that involve snow. In fact, I was hiking Tumbledown Mountain last week and saw a few large swaths still up in those hills. My mind instantly went to Lexi and Chris’s engagement session from this past winter around Sebago Lake here in Standish. We were very lucky to have a relatively mild day when we got together and were able to poke around without being bundled up too much.
Read MoreYou just might have seen Michelle & Chris’s names in the subject line of this post and got super excited to see their wedding photo! Alas, I’m working on their sneak peek and realized that I never posted any from their engagement portraits last fall at Doles Orchard. Opps! So, rather than post things out of order, I opted for a look back at last fall to get you more excited to see their gorgeous wedding last weekend. Looking back, it’s hard to imagine that I first met up with Michelle to talk about their wedding 14 months ago when they were just starting to plan their wedding. That seems like forever ago now!
Read MoreHere I am anxiously watching the weather forecast for tomorrow to see if schools are going to be stuck with another day tacked onto the end of the year. What I would much rather be doing is going back to last fall when I spent the afternoon with the “O” family. Yes, the weather was absolutely PERFECT, but there are so many other reasons why it was the perfect afternoon. Abbey and Matthew were first in front of my camera way back in the early days of my business for their engagement portraits and subsequent wedding in 2011.
Read MoreEngagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, and now on to life with a wandering, curious toddler. To say I feel fortunate every time I get to work with Michelle and Jory would be a complete understatement. Each time we get together is like another chapter in their story. It blows my mind when I think about how far back my connection with them goes!
Read MoreYou want to know what I absolutely love about photographing weddings? It’s getting together with the couples after their wedding for portraits. Seeing them after the emotional roller coaster of their wedding say and reconnecting is seriously amazing. And seeing Emily & Dale again after their wedding at the Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, Maine, was even more special because it meant I got to meet their newborn daughter and see all of Emily’s side of their amazing family again.
