The "J" Family Annual Portraits at Randall's Orchard

Engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, and now on to life with a wandering, curious toddler. To say I feel fortunate every time I get to work with Michelle and Jory would be a complete understatement. Each time we get together is like another chapter in their story. It blows my mind when I think about how far back my connection with them goes!

The "M" Family Portraits in Wakefield, Massachusetts

You want to know what I absolutely love about photographing weddings? It’s getting together with the couples after their wedding for portraits. Seeing them after the emotional roller coaster of their wedding say and reconnecting is seriously amazing. And seeing Emily & Dale again after their wedding at the Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, Maine, was even more special because it meant I got to meet their newborn daughter and see all of Emily’s side of their amazing family again.

Meghan & Hunter's Fall Wedding in Wells, Maine

Back in August, I met Meghan & Hunter for the first time for their engagement session. Normally a couple might look at the weather forecast, see the rain as just about a definite, and then opt to reschedule. But these two lovebirds decided to roll the dice and opt to go for it. Worst case scenario, they would get wet! But their fingers, and mine, were crossed with the hope that handling the rain for their portraits would result in perfect weather come their wedding day.

Praise from Beth & Kevin

★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)

“Suzanne is just amazing. She was so much more than our photographer that day! It felt like we had a family member capturing all of the moments on our special day. Somehow she managed to take pictures of everyone and every moment but she was never intrusive in her approach. Our pictures turned out beautifully and our house is covered in them!”

Keeley & Dan's Fall Wedding in Buxton, Maine

Keeley & Dan reached out to me to photograph their own nuptials over a year in advance of their wedding date. Having worked with me already, it didn’t take long for them to officially crown me their wedding photographer. I love it when that happens! They were planning a backyard soirée at Keeley’s childhood home with their closest family and friends there to celebrate. In fact, the tent was actually set up where Keeley & Amber’s swing set was set up many years ago. I am sure that the weekend was a bit surreal to their parents as the lawn was taken over with lawn games, cocktail tables, an aisle, and a large white tent.

Lyndsay & Collin's Lakeside Wedding at Camp Wildwood

Fifteen months. That is how long I waited to meet Lynsday & Collin for the first time on their wedding day. Yet that fifteen months of calls and emails made it seem like I was catching up with old friends when I arrived at Camp Wildwood in Bridgton, Maine, for their wedding festivities. I found Lyndsay with her ladies with their preparations well under way in one of the cabins tucked a bit away from the other wedding guests enjoying the beach across camp. The nerves had kicked in for everyone along with the occasional giggle of excitement. Meanwhile, Collin and his gents played volleyball by the main hall before retreating to the lower level of the cabin to tackle their own primping. With their getting ready stage completed, I shooed their lingering family and friends away (sorry, y’all!) to give these two a brief moment of time to see each other. As soon as they locked eyes on each other, the stress melted away and the laughter started again. As I saw them together in one space for the first time ever, it was very obvious to me why they make such a perfect match.

Amanda & David's Eagle Mountain House Summer Wedding in Jackson, NH

As mother nature officially turned the page on the summer of 2018, I find myself looking back at the past two months in disbelief that it has been that long since Amanda & David tied the knot. And, at the same time, that it has been that long since my own wedding anniversary as Alan & I got married on August 4th much like these two. When I first met with Amanda and her mother, August seemed like it was so far away. But POOF! it arrived in a flash.

I am quite baffled, really.

Technically, this post should have hit my blog yesterday. But, truth be told, it took me until mid day to come to the realization that it was August 8th. And thus here I am. It's the middle of the night and I have just wrapped up another night owl editing session. Now is as good a time to write this post. My daughter is asleep in her bed in the room next to my office (with the dog not too far away from her in his own bed). Alan is down in the other end of the house having gone to bed hours ago. It's just me and my thoughts. And I am blown away.

Meghan & Hunter's Rainy Day Engagement Portrait Session

Meghan & Hunter... where do I even begin!? These two love birds work together, but didn't connect until they were matched online. Shortly thereafter, it was clear to both of them why. And, after hanging out with the two of them in the rain, it's pretty clear to me as well. For many couples, my "I think we might miss the rain" email that I sent them yesterday afternoon before their engagement session might have given them pause and consider rescheduling. But Meghan & Hunter's response was simply that they wouldn't melt. My kind of couple!

Margot & Nicholas's Destination Wedding at the Bar Harbor Regency Stone House

There might have been a royal wedding "across the pond" this past spring (just in case you forgot, of course), but Margot & Nicholas had their very own fairy tale wedding day here in Maine for their destination wedding at the timeless Stone House at the Bar Harbor Regency. When I arrived at the Stone House to start capturing formal photos of Margot with her ladies, she literally took my breath away when she came out of her room with her hair pinned up, a sparkling tiara atop her curls, three strands of pearls just grazing her collar bone, and an absolutely stunning gown and long veil from Lovely Bride's New York City Bridal Shop. I'll admit that it took me a bit to recover! I knew that the day would be filled with loads of amazing details, but I don't think there was anything that could have really prepared me for just how incredible it all was.

Welcome to the world, Baby Darren!

I feel as though my relationship with Samantha & Ryan is like a chapter book. The prologue was in July of 2013 when I first met them for a cup of coffee in Sanford. Chapter 1 was in August of that year as we met up for their engagement portraits. Chapter 2 then happened in July of 2014 when we celebrated their nuptials at The Woodlands Club during the heat of summer. It was a few years later that we met up again and celebrated Jessica & Matt's wedding. Then Samantha & Ryan announced last year that they were pregnant and chapter four began!

Anne & Derek's Wedding at Portland's Ocean Gateway

When Anne & Derek reached out to me in early December, the snow covering the ground and April seemed like a distant thought. Before we knew it though, the snow was melting, the grass was starting to look a little less grim, and the days were getting a bit longer. The chill of winter was hanging on by a thread as I arrived at the Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown/Waterfront to meet Anne & Derek on their wedding day. Yet they were troopers as we made our way to Portland's Fort Allen Park for their first look next to the Fore River. The chill in the air made for good cuddling weather as they spent some moments together taking it all in.

Elizabeth & Michael's Maine Maritime Museum Wedding

Exactly eleven months prior to their wedding, Elizabeth & Michael reached out to me with their plans for their June 2018 wedding at Maine Maritime Museum. I was instantly excited at the opportunity to visit the Museum after Kelly & Kevin's wedding back in 2015. As I got to know Elizabeth & Michael and learned more about their story, my enthusiasm only grew (as did the "reply" list of our email chain). Fast forward to this past Saturday and even mother nature couldn't dampen my spirits. It was time for Elizabeth & Michael to finally get hitched! I am not sure that the forecast was what they had in mind when they opted for a June wedding, but my goodness did they rock it!
